How To Prepare For The 2015 Nexus 5 Launch
While Google has yet to publicly announce a release date for the new Nexus 5, several credible sources are claiming it will happen sometime in the months of October to November. This makes sense considering the fact that Google launched its previous Nexus smartphones around this time of year. So, how can you prepare for the launch of Google’s newest flagship smartphone?
Learn The Specs
The Nexus 5 (2015 edition) will reportedly boast a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 octa-core processor, 3GB of random access memory (RAM), and 32/64GB of internal storage space. Unfortunately, other details regarding the N5’s specs remain unknown at this time. The fact that it has an octa-core processor, however, is sure to impress. It’s also safe to assume that Google will use a new and improved camera in the Nexus 5, with some sources claiming it will boast a 16-megapixel camera.

LG or Huawei
Something else you should do to prepare for the Nexus 5 launch is decide whether you want to buy the LG or Huawei version. Yes, Google is planning to release two different versions of the Nexus 5: one that’s manufactured by LG, and another that’s manufactured by Huawei. According to various sources, the LG variant, codenamed “Bullhead,” will feature a 5.2-inch display, whereas the Huawei variant, codenamed “Angler,” will feature a larger 5.7-inch display as well as a larger battery. It’s unclear what other differences these two devices have, but display size is something that Nexus 6 users have expressed concern about since the device’s launch. At 5.95 inches, the Nexus 6 is more of a phablet and less of a smartphone. Google is likely hoping to avoid this same mistake by offering users an option to choose between two different sizes for the new Nexus 5 reboot.

The new Nexus 5 is expected to run Google’s Android M operating system. While this latest Android OS version has yet to be released — publicly, at least — you can download the preview version from Android’s website at https://developer.android.com/preview/download.html. Keep in mind that this is a developer preview version, meaning it comes with limited features and functionality, and you can expect to encounter some bugs as well. With that said, it will still give you an idea of what the new Nexus 5 will look like once released.
Sell Your Old Nexus 5
If you still have an old, original version of Google’s Nexus 5 handset, you may want to go ahead and sell it. The average selling price for the N5 has declined dramatically in the past 6 months, due largely in part to news about the reboot. However, it’s safe to say the price will drop even further when the new edition is released, which is why it’s a good idea to sell yours now.
