Move over OnePlus One, there’s a new smartphone that’s trying to dethrone the Google Nexus 5. Known as the Huawei Ascend P7, this powerful new smartphone offers the best of both worlds in terms of aesthetics and performance. It’s sleek and stylish but also incredibly fast and powerful. But this begs the question: how does the Huawei Ascend P7 compare to the Google Nexus 5? Before you go trading in your Nexus 5, check out our side-by-side comparison below.

Size

The Huawei Ascend P7 and Google Nexus 5 are almost identical in size. The Huawei Ascend P7 is 139.8 x 68.8 x 6.5mm, whereas the Google Nexus 5 is 137.8 x 69.2 x 8.6mm. Technically, the Ascend P7 is slightly thinner, but it’s a nominal difference that most users won’t notice.

Weight

Another close call between these two powerhouse smartphones is their weight. While the Google Nexus 5 weighs just 130 grams (which is incredibly light compared to most other smartphones), the Huawei Ascend P7 is even lighter  at 125 grams. Does 5 grams really make a difference? I personally don’t think so, but some users might notice it.

Display

The Google Nexus boasts a 4.95-inch display, whereas the  Huawei Ascend P7’s display is exactly 5 inches. Both devices feature a 1920×1080 full-HD resolution for superior image/media quality.

One of the areas where the Nexus 5 shines, however, is its pixel density. The Nexus 5 features 445 PPI, whereas the  Huawei Ascend P7 is 441 PPI.

RAM

Both the  Huawei Ascend P7 and Google Nexus 5 feature 2 GB of RAM.

Camera

The  Huawei Ascend P7 features an impressive 13-megapixel rear-facing camera. Unfortunately, the Google Nexus 5 comes up short in this category with its 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. With that said, Google executives have stated that they are working on a fix for the Nexus 5’s cameras, so holding out until the next Android KitKat update may yield some surprising benefits for your Nexus 5’s camera.

Processor

Now for the category that really matters when choosing a smartphone: processing power. The  Huawei Ascend P7 is powered by a 1.8 Ghz processor, which is considerably slower than the Google Nexus 5’s 2.3 Ghz quad-core processor. If you perform a lot of power-intensive operations, such as watching videos and multitasking, you’ll probably want to stick with the Google Nexus 5 for this reason alone.

Memory

The  Huawei Ascend P7 is only available in a 16 GB model, whereas the Google Nexus 5 is available in both 16 GB and 32 GB models.

Do you prefer the  Huawei Ascend P7 or the Google Nexus 5? We’d love to hear your opinion in the comments section below!
